Major companies are stepping up their game in fighting online piracy. They are working hard to protect the rights of content owners. The good thing about this is it has united police forces all over the globe. And, piracy censorship or controlling however possible is a good enough cause.
The reason why piracy is so hard to contain is because of the absolute freedom that users can have online. They are free to do whatever they want on the internet. Right now, the best solution is to take down those websites that actively promote piracy. It’s a good way to control the situation at least for now.
Fighting piracy is a huge challenge. Most, if not all agencies have their eyes on major torrent sites like The Pirate Bay and Kick Ass Torrents. These sites are leaders in torrent sharing. They have many uploaders or users who upload illegal content; and these contents reach people worldwide and are downloaded by millions. Both sites have managed to be around for a long time even after the many attempts to shut them down. In each attempt, anti-piracy groups and governments worldwide unfortunately keep failing.
We can’t say that piracy will be wiped off the internet. However, in the years to come, piracy would be very controlled or limited. There’s even a possibility that piracy may even not reach the same high level it was on before.
People with the same cause or goal can achieve a lot by working together and coordinating with one another. Illegal tasks such as online piracy can be controlled on a certain degree. We just can’t be sure when or how soon.
